Caden's New Horse

Caden has been very interested in being a cowboy and John Wayne ever since we stayed with my Dad (Papa Dana) over Thanksgiving. He and my dad watched alot of John Wayne movies during that time and since then he says "When I grow up I'm going to be John Wayne." Sometimes it's a doctor and John Wayne but always John Wayne.

Unfortunately being "John Wayne" has given it's fair share of trouble at school. Caden was in trouble for hitting kids a couple of weeks ago and when I asked why he was hitting he said "Mom, John Wayne punches the bad guys." I told him that wasn't very nice. He replied, "Mom, those kids were being bad." He also poked a boy in the eye with a toy drill because it was a "gun."

So if you're John Wayne, you have to have a horse. Caden has been making comments about needing a horse to be John Wayne. Such as "When I grow up, I'm going to be John Wayne and I'll ride my horse and Bandit (mom's dog) will be my dog. Well Wryan and I just happened to be looking on Craig's list and saw a little bay pony in Muskogee. The pictures posted showed a little girl about 5 standing on it's back so it looked pretty calm. Caden said he wanted a horse just like mom's but smaller and she was exactly the same color.

We loaded up and headed to Muskogee Sunday morning. It was cold in Poteau but on our way to Muskogee it started to snow! When we got there, it was so cold that Caden didn't want to ride her but after seeing her and the lady telling us that she had used her at Special Ed. Camp we thought she might work out so we loaded up "Lady" as we were told was her name and headed home. On the way home, Caden said, "Mom, I didn't get to stand up on her."
Now Caden had already told us that he was going to name her "Bullet" but after calling Papa Dana to tell him about our purchase, she was renamed again. Papa told him that in some of John Wayne's movies he rode a horse named "Bo", so poor "Lady" went from "Bullet" to "Bo" all in one day.

We made it home and it wan't snowing so Caden wanted to ride "Bo" with his saddle.
We made several circles in the yard and Caden made his picture "standing up on Bo."
